Windows 7 PPTP Tutorial
This page contains information on how to setup your VPN using Windows 7
NOTE: The information described on this page assumes that you have purchased a VPN. If you haven't, you can order one from here for just £5/month.
IMPORTANT: First, please ensure that you have the correct login information, as provided in our login help guide.
Step one: Click on the network icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, then click "Network and Sharing Center".
Step two: Click "Setup a new connection or network.
Step three: Click "Connect to a workplace".
Step four: Click "Use my Internet connection (VPN).
Step five: Enter the IP address which was emailed to you in the "Internet Address" box. You can call the Destination Name anything of your choosing, we recommend "My VPN". Make sure you check the "Don't connect now" checkbox at the bottom, then click next.
Step six: Enter the (as found in your VPN Activation email) and password (as found in the "My Services" section of our client area). Leave "Domain" blank, and click create.
Step seven: Just click close from this screen, we don't want to connect just yet. Nearly done.
Step eight: Click the network icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, find your VPN connection, right click it and select properties..
Step nine: From here, go to the "Security" tab. Change the type of VPN to Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP). Uncheck the "Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol" checkbox, and click ok.
Step ten: Click the network icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, and select "Connect".
Step eleven: Re-enter your username (as found in your VPN Activation email) and password (as found in the "My Services" section of our client area). Then click connect.
Step twelve: You should now see the following screens, which will display for a few seconds before getting you connected. That's it, you're done!
